
International Women’s Grandmaster and new Novato resident Carla Heredia Serrano will make her first appearance at Novato Checkmates on
Wednesday, October 23, 7 p.m. at the
Downtown Recreation Center, 950 7th Street, Novato.
The gathering is open to Checkmates members and the general public.
At approximately 7:30pm, Heredia Serrano will give a simultaneous exhibition for 10 players whose names will be drawn at random. The simul is free.
Heredia Serrano is from Equador. In 2013, she received the FIDE
International Women Grandmaster title. She is one of only 37 female
players worldwide who hold that title.
Novato Checkmates meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown
Recreation Center. Players of all ages and skill levels (including
beginners) are welcome.
